Long Beach High School’s 2024 homecoming game was held on October 18. The LBHS football team played against Sewanhaka High School. Many clubs at the high school had booths at the Homecoming Carnival with many activities and delicious treats.

During the game, many clubs at LBHS had a booth that raised money for their club. Some clubs that participated were ITS (International Thespian Society), Tri-M, Dance Club, and more. The clubs had fun games at their booth, or sold food. Everybody in town came to the game to support LBHS!

I got the chance to speak to club advisors to ask them questions about homecoming.

I asked Dr. Capobianco what his favorite part of the Tri-M booth was and he said “The karaoke booth is an awesome booth, lots of fun every year. I love seeing all kinds of people go up to sing, some people I know and some I don't know. There are always a couple of people I don't know and go out there and sing.”

I spoke to the Freshman Class advisor, Mrs. Papetti, about what her favorite part of running Freshman Class is. And she said, “I think we have a great group of students and we are really lucky.”

During halftime, there was a great performance from LBHS cheerleaders, color guard, and pep band. They put on a great show. Matthew McCaffrey was crowned as Homecoming King, and our Homecoming Queen was Summer Reed. It was a very close race; congrats to Matthew and Summer! I asked Matthew what his favorite part of winning homecoming king was and he said, “It was really fun because Summer and I ran together and we won.”

Homecoming 2024 was full of spirit and fun, and it was great to see everyone come together to celebrate. Fortunately, Long Beach defeated Sewanhaka with a score of 26-6. This was a great win for the Marines. Go Beach!
